A Day in the High Atlas mountain can be taken from Marrakech
Atlas valley - discover the most idyllic valley in Morocco
One
day with the relatively soft Berber
country from 3 to 4 hours of walk, it is important to see the
attractive Berber
villages of the Atlas perched in the mountains, the fields in terrace
and the
landscapes of the tops of the National park of Toubkal.
The
lunch picnic is normally taken from a
point of view where the top of Toubkal and the tops close are quite
visible.
The return will be done by another route before arriving towards return
of the
taxi for the return to Marrakech.

1. Departure from Marrakech
at 9am
2. Arrive to Imlil at 10am (1,750m)
3. Trek to Aremd village (1,900m)
4. Lunch in Berber house in Aroumd

5. Walk and arrive to Imlil at 4pm

n°1:
Your tour begins with a pick up from you hotel in Marrakech
at 9am. You will embark on a journey into the Atlas Mountains. En route
you
will get to see a vast array of vegetation, mountain streams, coloured
rock
cliffs, Berber villages and local mountain people.
This trek is for all levels, 60 minute drive by private car
from Marrakech to get to the Berber town of Imlil.
Here we shall leave our vehicle and to take a welcome glass
of mint tea in the village prior to setting out for some 3 to 5km
excursion.
towards the south to the Berber village of Aroumd (1900m), passing the
pin
forest, up and down the stark slopes, the jagged Western High Atlas
peaks of
the Toubkal Massif before us - Jbels Aguelzim (3547m),
Aksouâl (3847m) and the
Adrar Adj (3122m) watching us all the way. We shall stop for our picnic
lunch
at a pure and magnificent place where silence is only
«disturbed " by
goats, water streams and wagtails.
After a good lunch we go ahead to visit this rather singular
village in the Assif Aït Mizane Valley, built seemingly house
upon house on a
large moraine spur, overlooking ancient irrigated terraced fields of
barley,
corn and vegetables and always surrounded by apples and walnut trees.
We thence
carry on for another Hour down the other side of the valley to become
to where
your private car will be waiting to drive back to Marrakech.

Departure by private car from Marrakech around 8 am in the
morning
for an exhilarating 1hour drive south up the Asni weekly market every
Saturday and the high valleys to the Berber town of Imlil (1700m). Here
we shall leave your vehicle and meet you to take a welcome glass of
mint tea in the village prior to setting out for some 4km excursion.

Welcome to discover the beauty of the High Atlas with its landscapes of
ochre and red, its citadel villages that seem to have been taken out of
the middle Ages, surrounded by terraced farmland in front of mountains
that reach 4000m high. A trek focused on the discovery of the Berber
culture with time to share the daily lives of our hosts. We follow the
Mizane valley past the holy shrine of Sidi Chamharouch, a place of
pilgrimage. We thence carry on for another Hour to get to our lunch
wish will be served in our house in the village prior to setting off
back down the other side of the valley back to Imlil and the return
trip to Marrakech by the same car..
